Before you try to do anything with canning/preserving make sure you have what you need in terms of jars & equipment. It makes the canning process itself so much easier. I would highly recommend purchasing the Ball Blue Book as well. For me? And many generations of canners? This is the Bible of preservation. If you do not want to purchase this book right now? Check your local library. They are readily available for checking out for a few weeks to get familiar with the process and recipes of canning/preserving. Before you put anything in your jars or freezer peruse through the Ball Blue Book, You will find so many tips and so many wonderful step by step recipes. :)
